Does Rob Cornilles Back Presidential Frontrunner Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 Plan?
Tea Party congressional candidate Rob Cornilles wants to protect his millions of dollars from taxes, but when it comes to specifics, Oregon voters have been left to wonder if he supports Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 plan that would result in a tax increase for the middle class. Republican Presidential candidate Herman Cain has taken the lead in some of the latest polling with his controversial plan to impose a 9 percent tax on business transactions, personal income, and sales. Along with Republican primary voters, House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan backed the plan, calling it “bold” and supporting it because it’s “specific and credible.” So would Tea Party congressional candidate Rob Cornilles, who is running in a Republican primary himself, join Congressman Ryan in supporting Cain’s plan?
“Would Tea Party candidate Rob Cornilles support Herman Cain’s controversial 9-9-9 plan or stand with thousands of middle class Oregonians who would see an tax increase under this plan?” said Amber Moon of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Republican House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan has said he loves the 9-9-9 plan, and Oregon voters want to know if Tea Party candidate Rob Cornilles would also vote for this tax policy that favors the wealthy, not the middle class.”

Paul Ryan “Loves” Herman Cain’s “Specific and Credible” 9-9-9 Proposal. “House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan said in an interview with The Daily Caller that he ‘loves’ the idea of having ‘specific and credible’ plans, like presidential candidate Herman Cain’s signature ‘9-9-9’ proposal, in the national debate about tax policy. Ryan told The Daily Caller in an exclusive interview that Cain’s plan is a good starting point for debate, and shows the GOP presidential campaign season has entered into a more advanced stage where ideas — not just personalities — have come to the forefront. ‘We need more bold ideas like this because it is specific and credible,’ Ryan said. ‘I’m more of a flat-tax kind of a guy.’” [Daily Caller, 10/13/11]
Cornilles Advocated for Lowering Taxes for Millionaires. In 2011, when asked if he would support raising revenue by taxing the rich like Warren Buffet. Cornilles said, “Well, I do think, again I am kind of humored by Warren Buffet, I think he’s found a nice way to use the tax code to make sure there are no more Warren Buffet’s.” [News Channel 8, KGW.com, 10/15/11]
