Hypocrisy Alert

This Week Mary Bono Mack to Hold Hearings on Substance Abuse

Two Weeks Ago Bono Mack Cut Funding For Substance Abuse Services

Putting her own hypocrisy on full display, yesterday Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack (CA-45) said she wants to hold Congressional hearings into substance abuse because of actor Charlie Sheen’s recent comments, despite having voted recently to cut funding for it in Congress.  Two weeks ago, Bono Mack voted for the Republican Continuing Resolution which would slash funding for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services by $96 million.

“Representative Mary Bono Mack’s talk about the problem of substance abuse in America is hollow because she actually chose to reduce help to Americans suffering with addictions and looking for recovery,” said Jesse Ferguson of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  “If Congresswoman Mary Bono Mack wants to hold hearings about ways to reduce the prevalence of substance abuse, she can start by holding a hearing into her own vote to cut funding  that helps those suffering from it.”
