Leonard Lance’s Earth Day Hypocrisy

In What Has Become the Norm for the New Jersey Republican, Lance's Rhetoric Doesn't Match his Record - This Time on Green Jobs and Energy Independence

Leonard Lance's rhetoric continues to reek of hypocrisy and is completely at odds with his voting record in Washington.  After hypocritically lobbying for recovery package resources even though he voted against the plan, Lance is now trying to have it both ways when it comes to green jobs and alternative energy.

On Saturday, Lance participated in a panel discussion where he touted the benefits of investing in green jobs and alternative energy.  He even pledged to call for more "Republicans in Congress to be ‘environmentally responsible' and emphasized energy independence is a national security issue."  What he didn't say, however, was that when he had an opportunity to actually do something about investing in energy independence, Leonard Lance toed the "Party of No" line and voted against the plan that provides for almost $100 billion in green investments.

"When it comes to investing in green jobs, alternative energy, and protecting our environment, Leonard Lance offers nothing more than empty rhetoric," said Shripal Shah, Northeast Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "The reality is that Lance failed to actually do something about investing in green jobs when he had the chance; regardless of what he says back in his district, his voting record on green jobs and alternative energy is flat out disappointing."
