Representative McClintock Votes AGAINST Protecting Elders From Abuse

We're all taught to respect our elders, right?  You've got to wonder if Congressman Tom McClintock got the message.

"There's no question about it.  Tom McClintock is out of touch," said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  "He actually voted against efforts to protect American seniors from abuse by those who would do them harm.  Apparently the Sacramento Bee was right when the paper recently wrote, ‘Tom McClintock arrived in Washington...ready to say no.'"

Despite an increase in the number of cases of elder abuse nationwide, Tom McClintock recently voted against bipartisan legislation, the Elder Abuse Victims Act of 2009 [HR 448, #62, 2/11/09], to update protections for abuse, neglect and exploitation of seniors and to strengthen the prosecution of elder abuse perpetrators.

When it came to preventing the abuse of America's oldest and most vulnerable citizens McClintock failed.
