Republican Reichertís Energy Policy Flip-Flop #4: ANWR

Running Scared: Republican Reichert was for drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge before he was against it... and for it.

In the spirit of the summer season, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee will highlight one of Republican Dave Reichert's Energy Policy Flip-Flops every day this week.  If Congressman Reichert can't pick a side, how can he be on voters' side?

Say one thing, do another. As a candidate for Congress in 2004, Republican Congressman Dave Reichert supported drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. But as a Member of Congress, Republican Reichert has flipped-flopped, repeatedly voting both for and against drilling in ANWR. How long will Republican Reichert continue to flip-flop?

"Which campaign promise will Republican Congressman Dave Reichert break next? In the Bush-Reichert economy, middle class families need a Member of Congress they can trust to keep their word" said Yoni Cohen, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Republican Reichert has tried to have it both ways on the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, calling his credibility into question and raising serious doubts about who he would rather stand up for in Congress, middle class families or the oil companies that fund his campaigns."
