Campaign 2010

Republican Triage?

As a series of recent polls shows that voters would prefer Democrats in November of 2012, now even leading Republican House strategists admit that the NRCC’s claim that they are on offense is untrue and they admit Republicans will lose a significant number of seats in 2012.

SHOT: “House Republican campaign chiefs say they’re well prepared to protect their new seats heading into 2012—and to look at others that they believe they can flip. “Our theme is staying on offense, the will to win,” National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Pete Sessions, R-Texas, told reporters at a pen-and-pad briefing on Thursday.” [National Journal, 7/22/11]

CHASER: At a breakfast today, Congressional Leadership Fund Chairman Norm Coleman and President Brian Walsh made clear “they agree with a forecast that predicts Democrats will pick up five to 10 House seats in 2012.” [Christian Science Monitor, 11/29/11]  We, of course, believe that number will be much higher.
