The Truth About Djou’s Americans for Tax Reform Pledge

Charles Djou still fails to acknowledge that his signature on the Americans for Tax Reform Pledge means he supports continuing tax breaks for corporations that ship jobs overseas.  ATR itself said specifically in 2007 that eliminating tax credits for companies that ship jobs overseas would be a violation of the pledge.  Below is the truth on the implications of the pledge.

 

  • Americans for Tax Reform has argued that eliminating a tax break for companies that ship jobs overseas would be a violation of the pledge.

 

  • In 2007, the Americans for Tax Reform issued a legislative alert making it clear to their pledge signers that if they voted to remove a tax loophole taken by companies that ship jobs overseas it would be “a clear and unambiguous violation of the Taxpayer Protection Pledge.” [ATR Legislative Alert, 7/25/07]
