Van Tran: Out Of Touch, Out Of Step With CA-47

In a recent campaign video, California Assemblyman Van Tran claims to have “lived, worked, and really represented parts or all of this district for well over 20 years.”

But when Van Tran officially launched his bid for Congress, he did it from the wrong Congressional district – intentionally.

When the Orange County Register asked Tran’s campaign staff whether they knew that the press conference and brand new campaign headquarters were located outside the 47th Congressional District, an aide admitted Van Tran knew the location was outside the district, “but went with it anyway.”

“First, Van Tran intentionally announced his bid for Congress in the wrong Congressional district.  Then Tran was caught misusing taxpayer money to buy himself a house in a cushy gated community near Sacramento, even though he claims his residence is in Orange County.  And now he proposes privatizing Social Security and protecting tax breaks for companies that ship American jobs overseas,” said Andy Stone, Western Regional Press Secretary for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.  “It couldn’t be more clear: Van Tran is out of touch with the community he claims to want to represent.”
