Washington Party Leadership Banking on Rodney Davis’ Loyalty in Ending Medicare Guarantee

Groomed under corrupt Governor George Ryan, insider and twice failed politician Rodney Davis has devoted his whole life to the Republican Party. Now Washington Republican Tea Party Speaker Boehner and Leader Eric Cantor are flying in to support Davis’ third political campaign, banking on his support for their out of touch agenda that makes seniors pay more for their health care and middle class families pay more in taxes while millionaires get new tax breaks.

“Washington Party Leadership are betting third time is the charm for Rodney Davis’ political career because they know someone as loyal to partisan politics as Davis will be a reliable vote for their out of touch agenda that gives millionaires new tax breaks, but makes seniors pay $6,400 more for Medicare,” said Haley Morris of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Illinois voters should be concerned what career insider Rodney Davis promised so he could get this visit from Washington Republican Party Leadership since they still can’t get answers about Davis’ role in shady money-laundering schemes.”

Davis Agreed with Supporting the “Ryan Budget in Concept.” In 2012, Davis said “Ditto” when he was asked a question about supporting the Ryan budget, the prior respondent said “I would support the Ryan budget in concept, there are some tweaks that I think that I’d make to it, but in concept he was right on, I mean we can’t spend money we don’t have.” [Champaign County Forum, 5/12/12]

The Ryan Budget Ends Medicare. Paul Ryan’s budgets would end Medicare’s guaranteed benefit, protect $40 billion in tax breaks for big oil, provide people earning more than $1 million a year with an average tax cut of $265,000, and create incentives for corporations to shift profits and jobs overseas. Additionally, the Congressional Budget Office estimated it will increase health care costs by an extra $6,359 by 2022 for future Medicare beneficiaries, while a household making between $50,000 and $100,000 would face a tax increase of at least $1,358.
