Will Ric Keller Flip-Flop-Flip on His Support of the Bush-McCain Drilling Plan?

The government's top energy forecaster stressed today that allowing oil drilling in U.S. offshore waters would do little to lower gasoline prices (Reuters, 6/25/08).  Will this change Ric Keller's support of the Bush-McCain plan to drill off Florida's coasts?

Keller said last week that he supported drilling off of Florida's coasts because of record-high prices at the pump, stating "The circumstances have changed.  The threat to Orlando's tourism-based economy is very real in light of the skyrocketing gas prices" [Orlando Sentinel, 6/19/08].  Now that the Head of the Energy Information Administration has said that drilling will have almost no effect on gas prices, will circumstances change again?

"Representatives Ric Keller wants to give oil companies a blank check to drill off Florida's coasts, even though it will do almost nothing to help middle class Floridians who are being squeezed at the pump," said Kyra Jennings, Southern Regional Press Secretary for the DCCC.  "The people of Central Florida deserve a leader who will stand up for them.  Will Ric Keller flip his position again, or will he continue to let Big Oil, President Bush, and Senator McCain make his decisions for him?"

Ric Keller has taken over $56,000 from the Oil and Gas industry, showing the real reason why he is willing to sell out Florida's coasts even when it gives no benefit to working Floridians being squeezed at the pump.
