Congressman Don Young is Proud of His Taxpayer Funded Boondoggles
Scandal plagued Congressman Don Young (R-AK) infamous for his bridge to nowhere and, most recently, for securing a $10 million earmark for a road in Florida to benefit a campaign contributor took to the House floor late last night to proclaim he was proud of his earmarks.
Congressman Youngs boondoggles are nothing to be proud of wasting millions of taxpayer dollars on campaign contributors pet projects instead of securing our nation is scandalous, said Jennifer Crider, Communications Director at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. Congressman Young seems to have taken the bridge to nowhere to the land of delusion.
Following criticism of Congressman Youngs earmarks for the bridge to nowhere and a road in Florida for a campaign contributor, Young said:
I was always proud of my earmarks. I believe in earmarks, always have, as long as they are exposed. But don't you ever call that a scandal. [Congressional Record, 06-12-07]
