One-Term Wonder Blum Has Shockingly Bad Quarter

It’s no secret that Congressman Blum has not had a very good start to representing Iowa. In January, he voted with the fringe elements of his party against Speaker Boehner. In February, the NRCC glaringly excluded him from their program to support vulnerable members. By March, people were making the case that he’s the most vulnerable incumbent in the country. Yesterday, his unpopularity resulted in a paltry sum of $120,000. Most shockingly, Blum held fundraisers with presidential candidates Scott Walker, Rand Paul, and Rick Perry – and he still can’t garner support. On the last day of the quarter he was forced to dip into his own personal fortune with $500,000 loan to float his flailing campaign.

“Congressman Blum’s repeated hobnobbing with presidential candidates couldn’t even bring life to his anemic support,” said DCCC Communications Director Matt Thornton. “After cementing his place on the extreme fringes of the Republican Party, he’s seeing that an already uphill reelection is growing progressively less likely.”
