RECESS RECAP: Vulnerable House Republicans Hit With Fierce Healthcare Repeal Backlash

With zero achievements to speak of after the first few months of Republican-controlled Washington, vulnerable House Republicans limped home to widespread backlash over their attempted repeal of the Affordable Care Act. Constituents made their voices heard in diverse and creative ways, but the message was clear: ripping healthcare away from millions of Americans, increasing premiums and out-of-pocket costs, and slapping an age-tax on older folks is unacceptable.

“Vulnerable House Republicans spent two-weeks at home under constant fire for their reckless plan to repeal the Affordable Care Act,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “With new plans to strip away protections for people with preexisting conditions, the backlash will only grow stronger. At this point there’s no question that House Republicans’ obsession with repealing healthcare rather than improving it has badly damaged their standing with the American people.”
