Ryan’s false claim that the ACA is bankrupting Medicare has been ruled “Pants on Fire”
Speaker Paul Ryan just can’t stop himself from misleading Americans about Medicare. Tonight’s town-hall featured the same debunked claims that Ryan has been using to scare people so he can live out his dream of gutting Medicare. Ryan’s comments tonight set up an awkward showdown as Trump’s Chief of Staff promised this past weekend that Trump won’t “meddle” with Medicare. Trump’s surprisingly reasonable position is obviously “encountering fierce resistance” from Ryan.
“Tonight Speaker Ryan made clear that he’s still dead set on gutting Medicare so he can hand out tax breaks to millionaires and billionaires,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “Hardworking Americans widely oppose this morally reprehensible attack on seniors, and Ryan’s position will seriously harm House Republicans’ standing with their constituents across the country.”
