SHOT/CHASER: Mica’s Hypocrisy at Flint Water Hearing

SHOT:           “We should set aside a fund or whatever, because we should make certain these kids are being taken care of,’ said Rep. John Mica (R-Fla.), recalling the discovery of lead in Washington, D.C.’s water supply a decade ago. The initial decision to change Flint’s water source was done to save money while the city was facing an economic troubles.” [Washington Post, 2/03/16]

CHASER:      Congressman John Mica voted against a no-cost measure to reduce lead poisoning in drinking water in 2010.

“Congressman Mica was against protecting children from the health threat of lead poisoning  before he advocated for it during today’s hearing before the media,” said DCCC Spokesman Jermaine House. “Central Floridians deserve a Member of Congress who does the right thing even when no one is watching – not one who tries to rewrite history on his voting record when the cameras are on.”
