Why is Tennessee Trey Lying About Taking Special Interest Money?

Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth has some explaining to do. In one of his slick campaign ads, Trey declares he “is not taking lobbyist or special interest money. Now that’s real change.”

Sounds great, except it’s not true. According to his latest FEC report, Trey took more than $73,000 from special interest groups, and $750 from registered lobbyists. And his very own dad is single-handedly funding a super PAC to get Trey elected – which of course Trey at first tried to hide. Whoops.

Tennessee Trey’s carpetbagging campaign has been misleading Hoosiers since the start. Hollingsworth pretends to be out for Hoosier taxpayers, while suing them to avoiding paying property taxes. Hollingsworth calls himself a “real Hoosier,” yet he only moved to Indiana from Tennessee a year ago – and now refuses to release his tax returns. Why does Tennessee Trey feel the need to lie to Hoosiers? Maybe because the thing Trey cares most about is Trey.

“Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth has been misleading Hoosiers since he moved to Indiana from Tennessee a year ago to use his dad’s money to buy himself a seat in Congress,” said Sacha Haworth of the DCCC. “Whether it be refusing to release his tax returns or trying to hide the fact that his father is helping him get elected, Tennessee Trey Hollingsworth isn’t fit to represent Hoosiers in Washington, because he doesn’t share their values.”
