Tenney Refuses to Outright Accept Election Results

This is a first. During the Time Warner Cable news debate last night, NY-22 Republican congressional candidate Claudia Tenney refused to outright accept the results of her election.

At first dodging the question entirely, Tenney then said that she would accept the results of her election “as long as there is no corruption that has been proven.”

Tenney is recklessly perpetuating a myth sparked by Trump about widespread election fraud. As the Associated Press recently reported, “There is no evidence of widespread voter fraud, and election officials across the country have denied and denounced Trump’s charges.”

“It’s reckless that Tea Party radical Claudia Tenney is perpetuating a myth about widespread corruption in our elections, and refused outright to uphold a fundamental tenet of our democracy and honor the results of her election,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “As ridiculous as it sounds, will Claudia Tenney also ‘keep us in suspense’ about whether she will respect voters’ decision on November 8th?”
