Trump’s Conflicts of Interest Threaten House Republicans’ Ability to Govern

Pressure mounts on hypocritical Republicans to investigate Trumps conflicts

Donald Trump’s seemingly endless and unprecedented conflicts of interest were a major flashpoint in today’s press conference. It is now crystal clear that neither Trump nor House Republicans are going to “drain the swamp” in DC, and instead our President will have unprecedented ties to his business and its domestic deal making while holding the highest office in the world.

Speaker Paul Ryan and Oversight Chairman Jason Chaffetz’ cowardly refusal to investigate Trump and his conflicts of interest is a betrayal to the American people who were promised accountability from House Republicans. Ultimately, they risk paying a steep price at the ballot box as more people realize they were lied to on the campaign trail.

“House Republicans are being naive if they don’t recognize that Donald Trump’s staggering web of conflicts and lack of ethical standards will remain, and ultimately hurt their ability to govern,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “The American people will quickly recognize the cowardice and hypocrisy of House Republicans as they refuse to bring transparency and good government to Washington, and fail to hold Trump accountable.”
