WATCH: Republican Representative in Heavily Hispanic District, Will Hurd, Fails to Answer if DACA DREAMers Should Be Deported

Republican President Donald Trump has brought fear and uncertainty to Latino and immigrant communities across the country with his recent un-American mass deportation force, and as a result of Trump’s deportation machine, a lawful DREAMer with DACA may be facing deportation. During an interview with Univision San Antonino, Republican Representative Will Hurd failed to answer the simple question of whether or not DREAMers with DACA should be deported.

Hurd responded with: “well, they, uhm, they’re, we are still operating under that law, and so they shouldn’t be impacted.”

“With all due respect, Representative Will Hurd, the answer to this simple question is no. Law-abiding DREAMers should not have to live in fear of being torn apart from their families,” said DCCC Hispanic Media Director Javier Gamboa. “Once again, Will Hurd’s tone-deaf response to an issue that greatly impacts the Latino community proves that he doesn’t understand the people he’s supposed to be representing.”
