Today, on the last day of the convention in Philadelphia, Democrats will cap off a week spent standing together and fighting for a future that is stronger, safer, and fairer for American families. Meanwhile, House Republicans and Will Hurd are plummeting to historic depths, standing under the mantle of a Republican Party led by Donald Trump, who this week has been working hard to prove that his presidency would make our country less safe.
All week, there have been many examples of Democrats putting forward a vision for America, while Republicans have firmly put their party before our country. Over the course of the last two days, this contrast has come into even sharper focus.
Yesterday, Trump invited a foreign adversary to engage in cyberwarfare against the United States. And while Democrats prepare to nominate a woman for president for the first time in history, yesterday Trump dismissed a female reporter, telling her to “be quiet.”
“Donald Trump has made it clear from his reckless, irresponsible comments that he considers the presidency just another reality television role,” said Jermaine House of the DCCC. “Trump doesn’t seem to realize that there is no such thing as ‘just kidding’ on the international stage. The fact that self-proclaimed cybersecurity expert Will Hurd remains silent and continues to stand by Trump in spite of this is not something voters will forget in November.”
