Yesterday, Congresswoman Barbara Comstock promoted on twitter her appearance at an event in “support of Women at Risk” of human trafficking. But actions speak louder than tweets, and her company at the event speaks volumes about Comstock’s record of not supporting women – none other than extremist State Senator Dick Black.
Indeed, Comstock and Black are truly two peas in a pod. Black infamously wanted to decriminalize spousal rape. Comstock voted to mandate invasive transvaginal ultrasounds. Like Black, Congresswoman Comstock is on record advocating for the defunding Planned Parenthood, and they both share extreme positions against Roe v. Wade, even though Congresswoman Comstock represents a pro-choice district.
“You are the company you keep, and Barbara Comstock choosing to pal around with Dick Black is further proof of her putting politics before women’s health,” said Christie Stephenson of DCCC. “Dick Black’s extremeness on spousal rape is matched by Congresswoman Comstock’s reckless votes mandating transvaginal ultrasounds for women and defunding Planned Parenthood.”

In 2012, Comstock voted in favor of House Bill 462 and Senate Bill 484 that would amend informed consent law to mandate transvaginal ultrasounds before an abortion.
