DCCC Launches Constituency Organizer Program In Twelve Battleground Districts Across The Country

Today, DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos announced the launch of the committee’s Constituency Organizing Program – an initial six-figure investment to engage and build trust between Democrats and communities of color in key congressional districts.

This initial investment will place organizers in twelve battleground districts where AAPI, African American, Hispanic, and Native American voters will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of contested House contests. The work of these organizers and their programming will help engage, inform, and mobilize residents and voters in these communities so they are incentivized to take political action in November and beyond.

“We are not taking anything – or anyone – for granted in 2020. This on the ground investment in building trust with core communities is another early, intentional step to engage and organize in communities of color,” DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos said. “This program will further our work to ensure these core and valued constituencies are both listened to and reflected in our strategy to protect and expand the most diverse House Majority in our nation’s history.”

The Constituency Organizing Program is a project of the Cycle Of Engagement, the DCCC’s earliest large investment in connecting with the base of the Democratic Party and builds on the success of the DCCC’s successful 2018 Year Of Engagement.

  • In March of 2019, the DCCC placed nearly 60 organizers in dozens of communities across the country.
  • The DCCC also partnered with BOLD PAC, the campaign/political arm of the Hispanic caucus, House Majority PAC and Latino Decisions to conduct new research in Texas into how best to turnout Latino voters. This month the DCCC is conducting early research into outreach to the AAPI community.
  • The DCCC is also working with the DSCC to make an eight-figure investment in voting rights litigation to take on Republican attempts to disenfranchise young voters and voters of color.
