F Around, Find Out Fund

Republicans thought they could rig the system to stay in power. The American people have other plans.

The FAFO Fund directs resources to 15 Democratic candidates running in Trump districts where polling shows strong opportunities to expand the Democratic majority. These races will determine whether Republicans are rewarded for their attacks on democracy or held accountable by voters they tried to disenfranchise. They F’d around and now it’s time to find out!

Seats Republicans thought were safe

Chris Jones AR-02 Chris Jones

Chris Jones is a 7th-generation Arkansan, physicist, ordained minister, and the former executive director of the Arkansas Regional Innovation Hub. Chris ran for Governor in 2022, establishing broad statewide visibility and demonstrating major strength by winning Pulaski County, which anchors AR-02, with roughly 60% of the vote. Record high Democratic turnout in the primary and a fired-up base in Democratic-voting Little Rock puts Chris on strong footing to flip this seat in November.

Bale Dalton FL-07 Bale Dalton

Bale Dalton has spent his life in service to Florida and the United States. Bale served 24 years in the U.S. Navy and Navy Reserve as a Naval Aviator, including 13 years on active duty, and commanded the Navy’s special operations support helicopter squadron. He previously advocated for Florida’s military families and bases as military legislative assistant to Bill Nelson in the U.S. Senate, and most recently served as Chief of Staff at NASA. Now, Bale is ready to lead in Congress to help Central Floridians get ahead. Bale’s undeniable record of always putting service over self makes him the exact kind of candidate that can flip this seat from red to blue this November.

J.D. Ford IN-05 J.D. Ford

J.D. Ford grew up in a working-class family, his father a union truck driver, his mother an assisted living administrator. He is the first LGBTQ+ legislator in Indiana history. He is running against Rep. Victoria Spartz, one of the most unpredictable members of the House Republican caucus and is deeply unpopular in the district, winning just 60% of the vote against an opponent who didn't raise enough to file a FEC report. J.D. can flip this seat blue with your support!

Don Coover KS-02 Don Coover

Dr. Don Coover is a West Point graduate who served more than 10 years in the U.S. Army, including in Korea with an aviation intelligence unit as a pilot and cryptographic operations officer. Afterwards, Don earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University. He reentered the Army and provided veterinary care for U.S. Army K-9 unit dogs. Despite never having run for office, Dr. Coover has raised over $1 million and garnered support from labor unions and leaders such as Former HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. In addition to having cast the deciding vote to stop the release of the Epstein files, Derek Schmidt is a proven weak candidate, having already lost this district when he ran statewide in '22.

Fred Wellman MO-02 Fred Wellman

Fred Wellman is a retired Army officer, veterans advocate, and entrepreneur running for Missouri’s 2nd Congressional District. A West Point graduate and Army aviator who served over 22-years in uniform, Wellman flew OH-58 helicopters and led a scout platoon in Operation Desert Storm. After 9/11, Fred deployed with the 101st Airborne during the opening phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom where he served two tours in Iraq as a spokesman and trainer for the Iraqi Security Forces. Upon retirement from the Army he founded ScoutComms, a Public Benefit Corporation serving veterans and military families.

Chris Backemeyer NE-01 Chris Backemeyer

Chris Backemeyer is a Democrat running to unseat GOP incumbent Mike Flood in Nebraska's 1st Congressional District. Chris served in the U.S. State Department under both Democratic and Republican administrations, rising to become Deputy Assistant Secretary for Assistance Coordination and Regional and Multilateral Affairs in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs after years of extensive work on U.S. policy toward Iran. Backemeyer served as the Director for Iran on the White House National Security Council and later as an advisor in the Executive Office of Vice President Harris, where he advised her on national security and Middle East policy, as well as international economics and climate change.

Teresa Benitez-Thompson NV-02 Teresa Benitez-Thompson

Teresa Benitez-Thompson is a wife, mother, community advocate, and the former Majority Leader of the Nevada Assembly. When Teresa was just a teenager, her younger sister became pregnant and was nearly forced to choose between having food on the table and pursuing an education. Teresa took action and even testified on behalf of her family at the state capitol, leading the legislature to change policies so that young women could go to school and still receive food assistance. That experience taught Teresa the power of raising your voice and kicked off Teresa’s career as a community advocate, organizer, and social worker. Teresa went on to serve for 12 years in the state legislature and is now running for Congress to lower costs, protect working families, and fight for Northern Nevada — a place she’s called home for more than 40 years. Against a scandal-plagued Republican who made national news for lying about his military service and for breaking financial disclosure laws, Teresa is the clear choice for voters.

Blake Gendebien NY-21 Blake Gendebien

Born and raised in the North Country, Blake Gendebien is a second-generation dairy farmer, small business owner, and father of three who has spent his life giving back to his community. Blake, who currently co-owns and operates Twin Mill Farms, has represented more than 450 farmers as Vice Chair of the largest dairy co-op in the Northeast and started a nonprofit with his wife to support North Country families dealing with cancer. Now, Blake is running to bring North Country values to Congress, building a strong coalition that crosses party lines in every corner of this sprawling district. He is committed to working with anyone to lower costs, protect rural health care, support the region’s family farms, and root out corruption. While scandal-ridden extremist and self-dealer Anthony Constantino pledges loyalty to an unpopular agenda of tariffs that jack up costs and health care cuts that hurt rural hospitals, Blake is ready to get to work for the North Country and fight for his community.

Richard Ojeda NC-09 Richard Ojeda

As the proud grandson of a Mexican immigrant, Richard Ojeda has dedicated his life to serving others. He spent more than two decades in the U.S. Army, serving in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Haiti and earning two Bronze Stars. He earned his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia State University in 1997 and his MBA from Webster University in 2010. After serving in the West Virginia State Senate, Richard returned to North Carolina with his family. He’s committed to expanding access to health care, supporting veterans, and ensuring working families and everyday North Carolinians have a government that works for them.

Paul Barringer NC-13 Paul Barringer

Paul Barringer is an attorney, health care policy expert, husband, father, and Eagle Scout who grew up on his family’s farm along the Deep River in Lee County. He attended Lee County public schools, Davidson College, Princeton, and UNC Law. He spent more than 25 years in health care helping government programs work better for the people they serve. In 2025 he returned home to care for his mother and run the family tree farm with his wife, Marcea. Paul would bring North Carolina’s 13th District a focus on fiscal discipline, practical health care reform, and a Congress that does its constitutional job of overseeing the executive branch.

Kristina Knickerbocker OH-10 Kristina Knickerbocker

Kristina Knickerbocker has spent her life dedicated to service for her country and community. As a Major and nurse in the 88th airbase wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Kristina led teams to improve medical care for active duty, veterans, and military families. Her work directly resulted in better health outcomes and increased medical readiness for servicemembers. Later Kristina joined the 445th Aeromedical Staging Squadron. When Kristina returned to civilian life, she worked at The Ohio State University as a Neuro-Oncology Nurse Practitioner, helping cancer patients across the region. The healthcare system failed Kristina during her pregnancy and second childbirth when frightening complications resulting from not being listened to or believed by medical professionals proved nearly fatal. Today, Kristina and her husband Brett are proudly raising their two young children in the Yellow Springs area near Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Don Leonard OH-15 Don Leonard

Don Leonard is the son of a loving and heroic single mom. Growing up, he saw when all her resourcefulness and hard work wasn’t enough to keep poverty and homelessness at bay. This childhood taught him the value of personal responsibility. But he also learned the importance of social safety nets and devoted public school teachers. After college, Leonard spent two years with the U.S. Peace Corps in South America. He met his wife while he was a post-doc at Tulane University in Louisiana. The two of them would go on to teach at Ohio State. At Ohio State, Leonard has served as professor of city and regional planning. Leonard is committed to fighting for an economy that is fair, prosperous, and sustainable.

Chaz Molder TN-05 Chaz Molder

Chaz Molder is a native son of Middle Tennessee. Chaz was elected as the mayor of his hometown of Columbia, a city that voted for Donald Trump by double digits, in 2018, defeating an incumbent Republican to become the youngest mayor in his city’s 200+ year history. Since then, Chaz has delivered for his community, revitalizing downtown Columbia, investing in public safety, and prioritizing community engagement all while passing a balanced budget without increasing property taxes. Chaz knows what it takes to win in tough places — he’s done it twice before, while Andy Ogles has never faced a strong challenger in his career. Now, Chaz is ready to win again and bring Middle Tennessee values to Congress.

Justin J. Pearson TN-09 Justin J. Pearson

Justin J. Pearson is a Memphis native who serves as a State Representative in the Tennessee General Assembly. Raised by a preacher and a teacher, Justin has spent his life working to strengthen his community. Before even entering elected office, Justin co-founded a successful grassroots organization that worked to protect the region’s land and keep environmental cleanup costs resulting from big businesses off of taxpayers. As a legislator, Justin has built a track record of fighting for lower housing and health care costs. Republicans had to gerrymander this seat because they are bleeding support in Trump-won districts as voters turn against their cost-raising agenda. Even after Tennessee Republicans’ attempt to rig this district, Democrats have a clear path. Phil Bredesen won this district in 2018 thanks to high turnout from Black voters, and Justin’s record of service and high support in Shelby County give him a clear path to winning TN-09 this November.

Katy Padilla Stout TX-23 Katy Padilla Stout

Katy Padilla Stout is a South Texas native raised by a single mother, whose father and grandparents worked as migrant farmworkers. A lifelong Texan, child welfare attorney, former public school teacher, and mother of four, Padilla Stout has built her campaign around lowering costs for working families, tackling the cost of living crisis, and cleaning up Washington. With former incumbent Tony Gonzales abdicating his seat after his public downfall and resignation, and Republicans nominating extreme candidate Brandon Herrera, national GOP leadership is forced to defend a fractured base in a sprawling, expensive media market. Padilla Stout’s focus on lower prices, strong public education, and restoring integrity to government puts this traditionally competitive swing district firmly back in play.
