House Democrats pass H.R. 4: Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019

Today, House Democrats took action to secure the right to vote with the passage of H.R. 4: Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019. The legislation restores core tenets of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and expands protections for all voters. DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos released the following statement:

“Democrats in Congress have taken action to ensure every American’s right to vote is protected with the passage of the Voting Rights Advancement Act of 2019 (H.R. 4). This historic action recognizes the inequities people of color, rural and young voters face at the ballot box by restoring and expanding measures to end voter suppression and discrimination.

“Countless Americans have sacrificed their lives to protect our most precious responsibility as citizens — exercising the right to vote. This should not be a partisan issue and Majority Leader McConnell should act quickly by bringing this critical legislation for a vote in the Senate without delay.”  — DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos
