Establishment Republicans lost out to Tea Party favorite and Trump lemming Danny Tarkanian in their primary – and they still can’t get behind him. With Trump trailing by eight points in this swing Nevada district, it’s not hard to see why.

Gov. Brian Sandoval, whose tax increase was a focal point of Danny Tarkanian’s primary victory over gubernatorial lieutenant Michael Roberson, had a simple answer when I asked if he would support the GOP nominee in CD3:
“The Governor has not heard from Danny Tarkanian since 2010,” his spokeswoman, Mari St. Martin, told me.
After the Sun’s Megan Messerly wrote about Tarkanian not receiving a congratulatory phone call from the governor, I asked the newly minted nominee if he wanted the endorsement of the man whose signature achievement he had eviscerated for months. (In addition to harping on the largest tax increase in history, Tarkanian called state Senate Majority Leader Roberson, whom Sandoval endorsed, a “tax traitor” on a website.)
“Of course I do and yes I will (call the governor),” Tarkanian told me this week.
I wonder if Sandoval will take the call, much less endorse him. And perhaps a better question: Why would Tarkanian want the endorsement of a man whom he obliquely pummeled during the primary?
