LGBTQ Equality Council

The DCCC LGBT Equality Council is dedicated to recruiting more LGBT candidates, supporting candidates who stand up for equality, and engaging the LGBT community in the fight.

Democrats in the House are committed to fighting for equality for all Americans, and we are proud that our caucus truly reflects America today. In 2014 we elected the most diverse caucus in our country’s history—we are the first to be made up of a majority women, minority and LGBT Members. Our caucus includes six LGBT members this year, including the first openly gay minority Member of Congress and the first openly bisexual Member of Congress.

Our Members fight every day for equality, but there is so much work left do to ensure that all Americans can truly exercise their civil rights. That is why we are building a network around the country dedicated to electing LGBT individuals and LGBT allies to Congress, and ensuring that our community stands up and makes our voices heard in November 2016.
