Mercuri’s first endorsement came from Koch Network’s anti-rail safety lobby
PA-17 Republican candidate Rob Mercuri is under the microscope once again for his anti-rail safety campaign.
After new findings from the National Transportation Safety Board exposed that Norfolk Southern “repeatedly tried to interfere” with the NTSB’s investigation into the catastrophic East Palestine derailment, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg today urged Congress to pass the bipartisan Railway Safety Act, legislation introduced by Congressman Chris Deluzio to improve safety requirements in the wake of the Norfolk Southern derailment.
While Deluzio continues fighting for Western Pennsylvania’s union workers and safety, Rob Mercuri is being propped up by the Koch Network’s AFP Action, who are lobbying to block this critical bipartisan rail safety legislation. Throughout his career, Mercuri has also voted against extending safety protections for Pennsylvanians and protecting workers’ rights.
DCCC Spokesperson Nebeyatt Betre:
“Rob Mercuri has proven that he would be a danger to pro-union, pro-safety legislation at the behest of the billionaires fueling his campaign. Western Pennsylvanians deserve a fighter like Chris Deluzio who works to deliver real results on their behalf, not to appease corporate donors.”
