“SHOUT IT PROUDLY FROM THE MOUNTAINTOPS”: Scott Perry Doubles Down on Gutting Health Care and Tax Giveaways for the Rich Ahead of 2020

Perry is excited to campaign on his record of gutting health care protections for Pennsylvanians and backing corporation giveaways (and so are we)

House Republicans are still reeling from historic losses in the midterm elections, and from GOP House Leader Kevin McCarthy on down they’ve blamed their defeat on their out-of-touch agenda, including gutting the health care of middle-class Americans.

That is, except for Congressman Scott Perry. At a conservative gathering on Saturday, Perry implored Republicans to run on their horrible record, and even “shout it proudly from the mountaintops”, as PennLive.com reports:

Perry said people come up to him frequently and ask in whispering tones how he thinks the Republicans can do with Trump at the top of the ticket.

“Why are we whispering?” he challenged the attendees. “This is America. If you’re not confident in these things (Trump and GOP-backed policies), how can anybody else be? They work… We have to stand up for what we believe in and shout it proudly from the mountaintops.”

Perry’s exhortation comes just days after he voted to double down on the GOP’s misguided agenda, backing a lawsuit that would eliminate protections for 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions, explode the cost of insurance premiums and out of pocket costs, and charge older Americans an “age tax” for their care. And, Perry’s comments come in the heat of tax season, where more and more Pennsylvanians will come away with less money in their pockets, thanks to the Perry-backed GOP tax scam.

“We welcome Congressman Perry campaigning on his disastrous record in Washington,” said DCCC spokesman Mike Gwin. “From trying to gut the health care of middle-class Pennsylvanians, to backing a huge tax giveaway for the super-wealthy and big corporations, it’s clear that Perry is on the side of Washington special interest – not Pennsylvania working families.”
