It’s day two of our weekly run-up to the White House Correspondents Dinner (WHCD)! If you missed yesterday’s release, check it out here:
As a reminder, Congresswoman Mia Love generated a lot of bad headlines last year for misusing taxpayer dollars to pay for airplane tickets to the WHCD. Today we are highlighting her second excuse: “attended several meetings.”
“Congresswoman Mia Love’s rapidly changing story left her constituents with more questions than answers,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “The fact that her office said that she ‘attended several meetings’ on a weekend without providing any credible evidence was suspicious to say the least.”

(KUTV) Rep. Mia Love (R-Utah) is fighting back against a report that she used taxpayer dollars to attend a Washington, D.C. social function in April.
The Hill reports Love “billed taxpayers $1,160 for flights and other transportation costs to return to Washington the same weekend she attended the White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) dinner and other social events.”
According to The Hill, House rules forbid lawmakers from using congressional money for activities “primarily social in nature.”
But Love spokesman Richard Piatt told 2News the freshman congresswoman “attended several meetings in addition to dinner that weekend. She also went into her office to conduct official business.”
Love was elected to the House of Representatives in 2014 after defeating Democrat Doug Owens. Owens recently announced he will challenge Love again for the seat in 2016.
