Robocalls remind IL-10 voters that Dold introduced a measure to limit a woman’s access to reliable health care
On the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the DCCC is launching robocalls in Illinois’ 10th Congressional District to remind voters that Republican Bob Dold revealed his true colors when he recently introduced a measure that would defund Planned Parenthood clinics.
In addition to aiding House Republicans in their attacks against women’s health care, Bob Dold has voted to undermine a woman’s right to choose, supporting Paul Ryan budgets that stripped Planned Parenthood of hundreds of millions of dollars in funding.
“Republican Congressman Bob Dold may pretend to be a fighter for women’s health care back home, but out in Washington he works behind the scenes to further House Republicans’ anti-choice agenda,” said Sacha Haworth at the DCCC. “By taking action to restrict access to affordable and quality health care, Bob Dold has demonstrated that he will choose to side with his fellow Republicans when it counts.”
The following is the script for the robocall that will reach voters throughout Illinois’ 10th Congressional District:
Hi, this is Camille calling on behalf of the DCCC.
Today is the anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on Roe v. Wade, which said that a woman’s constitutional right to privacy extends to her ability to make personal medical decisions, including to have an abortion.
Roe has been the law of the land for decades, and a majority of Americans agree that a woman has the right to make her own medical decisions.
Yet Republican Congressman Bob Dold introduced an amendment that would defund Planned Parenthood clinics, and has voted repeatedly to limit women’s access to health care and to safe, legal abortions. And on Tuesday, Republicans in Congress are planning to vote yet again to roll back healthcare access for thousands of Illinoisans.
Call Congressman Dold at (847) 793-8400 and tell him to stop doing the bidding of Paul Ryan and House Republicans and attacking women’s health care.

Background
Dold Offered Amendment to Limit Funding to Planned Parenthood Clinics. In September 2015, Rep. Dold offered an amendment to H.R. 3134, the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 to limit funding to Planned Parenthood clinics, putting women’s health services in jeopardy. [H.R. 3134, Amendment, 9/15/15]
Dold Voted Against Adding Exception To Anti-Choice Bill To Protect The Health Of The Woman. “U.S. Rep. Julia Brownley’s attempt to amend a bill calling for a ban on abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy was defeated Wednesday, and the House went on to pass the ban. The Westlake Village Democrat’s motion and amendment would have added language to the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act that would have permitted abortions after 20 weeks if a woman’s health were at risk. It was defeated on a mostly party-line 181-246 vote.” [H.R. 36, Vote #222, 5/13/15; Ventura County Star, 5/13/15]
Dold Voted to Undermine a Woman’s Right to Choose In 2011, Dold voted for a bill which undermined and harmed women’s health by limiting access and funding for abortions. Known as he “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” this bill prohibited federal medical facilities from providing abortion services and dramatically changed the laws regarding abortion access and funding. [HR 3, Vote #292, 5/04/11]
Dold Supported Budget that Included Language Defunding Planned Parenthood. In 2011, Dold supported a bill that included an amendment that would prohibit Planned Parenthood and its affiliates from receiving federal funding. [Roll Call, 3/01/11]
