Why Is Bruce Poliquin Still Hiding?

Poliquin Continues to Dodge Questions on Which GOP Presidential Candidate He’d Support as Party Standard-Bearer

Even after Saturday’s Maine Republican presidential caucus, where his Maine GOP voters chose their preferred presidential candidate, Congressman Bruce Poliquin continues to dodge questions on which contender he supports.

Over the weekend, WCSH reported that “Representative Poliquin said he does not plan on endorsing a candidate until there is an official nominee.” The Bangor Daily News reported:

“[Poliquin] hasn’t endorsed a candidate in the race and declined to say who he caucused for.

This isn’t the first time Poliquin has dodged questions on the presidential race. As recently as late January, WABI reported that Poliquin “stopped short of weighing in on any specific candidate.

“Last weekend, Bruce Poliquin’s fellow Maine Republicans caucused for their preferred presidential pick, yet Poliquin still refuses to say who he supports as his party’s standard-bearer,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “At the very least, Republican voters in Maine’s 2nd congressional district deserve a straightforward answer from their representative on who he caucused for, but instead, Bruce Poliquin is once again hiding under his desk.”

This isn’t the first time Poliquin has dodged the tough questions. Earlier this year, Poliquin shamefully refused to comment on racist remarks made by his mentor, Governor Paul LePage. Last fall, Poliquin awkwardly refused to confirm or deny that former House Speaker John Boehner had organized a fundraiser for him on Mount Desert Island.
