CA-13: John Duarte Skips Out on San Joaquin Farmers to Fundraise with Kevin McCarthy

Duarte bails on farmers to attend swanky Sacramento fundraiser with tickets priced in the thousands

Last night, John Duarte gave residents of California’s 13th congressional district a little taste of what his representation would be like: After confirming his participation in a debate months prior to specifically speak to the needs of farmers in the San Joaquin Valley, John Duarte unceremoniously canceled.

The reason? To yuck it up at a fancy Sacramento fundraiser with MAGA extremist Kevin McCarthy. 
While Duarte is happy to pay lipservice to farmers, last night, he showed his true allegiance is to the same MAGA Republicans threatening to slash Medicare and Social Security and ban abortion nationwide. Meanwhile, Democrat Adam Gray showed up and spoke to the most pressing issues that Valley farmers and residents across the 13th face.

This isn’t the first time Duarte abandoned California famers. This year, a court found Duarte deceived small farmers and cost them millions in losses by “knowingly” selling them hundreds of thousands of diseased trees.

Whether blowing them off to schmooze with special interests, or ripping them off through his own bankrupt business practices, John Duarte made his disdain for California farmers clear.”
