Though his campaign remains under a cloud of suspicion and the candidate promises to support the highly offensive leader Donald Trump, today the NRCC upgraded Brian Fitzpatrick to the top tier level of its Young Guns program.
National Republicans were clearly desperate for a candidate in the 8th Congressional District of Pennsylvania when they recruited Brian Fitzpatrick from 3,000 miles away in California to run for the seat held by his brother. Brian Fitzpatrick was first added to the Young Guns Program only one month after moving to Pennsylvania. He was upgraded to its second tier one month after Politico reported that he possibly violated the Hatch Act by allowing his brother Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick to make campaign calls on his behalf while he was employed by the FBI.
“In a swing, open seat made up of moderate voters who will reject the Trump ticket, National Republicans are left in the desperate position of having to embrace a Trump-loving candidate whose campaign remains under a cloud of suspicion,” said Jermaine House of DCCC.
