Responding to a tragic incident in the Florida Keys, where the bodies of five Cuban migrants fleeing Cuba were found dead, vulnerable Republican Carlos Curbelo seized the opportunity to immediately blame President Obama for their deaths in a baseless partisan attack. In a press release, Curbelo said “President Obama’s new policy […] has created much anxiety and desperation on the island, leading many to dangerously risk their lives in an effort to escape.”
Responding to Congressman Carlos Curbelo shamelessly politicizing a tragedy, Javier Gamboa of the DCCC issued the following statement:
“The fact that Carlos Curbelo is so partisan his first instinct to use a tragedy to blame President Obama just to score cheap political points with Republicans, is grotesque. Curbelo has stooped to a new low, proving that he’s not the kind of leader South Floridians deserve.”
