Congresswoman Martha McSally Jeopardizes Safety of Arizonans

With less than 48 hours before funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) expires, “One-Term Wonder” Congresswoman Martha McSally (AZ-02) is refusing to say whether she would vote to allow this critical agency to continue operating.

Dysfunctional Republicans in Congress have once again brought Washington to the brink, and funding for DHS is set to expire tomorrow unless Republicans can stop fighting with each other and pass a funding bill. A DHS shutdown would have a severe effect on our national security, as this agency oversees the security of our borders and ports, public transportation systems, and disaster preparedness. Without proper funding, DHS operations will be hampered and hundreds of DHS employees in Arizona will go without paychecks. But despite these very serious consequences, McSally has refused to say whether she’d support such a bill.

“By putting party loyalty before national security, Congresswoman McSally is playing a very dangerous game,” said DCCC Communications Director Matt Thornton. “Rather than prioritize the safety of her constituents, Congresswoman McSally is putting political security over national security.”
