DCCC Chairman Steve Israel Statement on Hispanic Heritage Month

DCCC Chairman Steve Israel released the following statement on Hispanic Heritage Month:

“This month we celebrate the innumerable contributions Hispanic Americans have made to the fabric of our country, and the ways in which Hispanic culture continues to make an imprint on our American identity. Generations of Hispanic immigrants have sought freedom and opportunity on American soil, and in September we honor their legacy. “We must honor the contributions of the Hispanic community, not just through words, but also through deeds. Like all working families, Hispanic Americans want an economy that works for all Americans—not just a select few. House Republicans continue to stack the deck for special interests and block comprehensive immigration reform that would unite families and grow our economy. House Democrats are committed to lifting up middle-class families by investing in jobs, quality and affordable education, opportunity for women, and real immigration reform that grows our economy.”
