DCCC Launches Two New Ads in TX-23: ‘Proud’ and ‘Stretched’ – Showing How Will Hurd’s Dangerous Budget Plan is Out-of-Touch With Texas Values

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today released two new television ads in Texas’ 23rd Congressional District: “Proud” and “Stretched.” Both ads will begin running today.

The spots feature testimonials from a Texas veteran and teacher, speaking out against Will Hurd’s dangerous budget plan that is out-of-touch with Texas values: slashing support for vital programs like veterans benefits and our education system while giving tax breaks to the ultra-wealthy.

SCRIPT OF DCCC IE AD “PROUD”:

Mark: I was proud to serve the United States Army for 30 years.

My vehicle was hit with an IED. We were fortunate to come out of it alive. Lost my hearing, had internal injuries.

Will Hurd’s plan to cut veterans’ benefits while giving tax breaks to the wealthy is beyond my comprehension.

The country needs to match the commitment of each service member that deployed during the time of war.

If Will Hurd will not support veterans, we will not support him.

SCRIPT OF DCCC IE AD “STRETCHED”:

Gema: I’m entering my 6th year of teaching and I come from a family of teachers.

Will Hurd is completely out-of-touch with what needs to be done in our education system.

He wants to cut billions from an already stretched thin education system and give tax cuts to the wealthy.

What that means is more kids in the classroom. We need to be investing in our kids, not taking things away from them.
