DCCC reveals offensive battlefield list, places AZ-01 and AZ-06 on offensive Districts In Play list
Today, the DCCC revealed its initial Districts In Play for the 2024 cycle and named AZ-01 and AZ-06, currently represented by David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani, as target districts that will help Democrats win back the House majority in 2024.
In 2022, David Schweikert won by a mere 3,195 votes and Juan Ciscomani by just 1%. In 2024, both will have to defend a district that President Biden won in 2020.
Schweikert is a MAGA extremist plagued with ethicsviolations and supports banning abortion with no exceptions for rape or incest. Juan Ciscomani is an avid Kevin McCarthy supporter, defending him on the floor of the House during House Republicans’ chaotic 15 round Speakers race and is a rubber stamp for every extreme piece of legislation House Republicans are pushing through Congress. Like Schweikert, Ciscomani wants to make abortion illegal and cheered the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe, but knowing how unpopular his stance is with AZ-06, Ciscomani physically ran away when asked about his position.
DCCC spokesperson Tommy Garcia:
“David Schweikert and Juan Ciscomani are anti-choice MAGA extremists more focused on partisan investigations, out-of-touch legislation, and protecting wealthy corporations than working for everyday Arizonans. AZ-01 and AZ-06 are the exact kind of districts that Democrats will look to as we work to flip the House back in 2024 – and with Schweikert and Ciscomani’s disastrous records, Arizonans will have a clear choice.”
The DCCC’s Districts In Play are competitive Republican-held or open districts across the nation that are critical battlegrounds as the DCCC works to unseat Republicans and win a Democratic House majority this cycle.
Additionally, this cycle will mark the first time ever that the DCCC has launched nominee fund pages, which allows grassroots donors to donate now to contribute to the eventual Democratic nominee in these Districts In Play.
