So much for Katko’s so-called ‘independent’ position
Congressman John Katko continues to leave the door open to supporting Trump should he ‘change his tone.’
But do you know who thinks that argument is ridiculous? His neighbor, Republican Congressman Richard Hanna.
Earlier today on the Keeler in the Morning radio show, Hanna pushed back on the type of Trump logic used by Katko, asking, “What is there about Donald Trump that makes you think he could be President of the United States?
Asked by the host if a tone change from Trump could influence his views of Trump, Hanna responded, “Of course not. I mean, how many times do you need to hear something to believe it’s part of somebody’s core belief system?”
Hanna also had some thoughts on the presidential nominee that Katko continues to play footsie with:
- Doesn’t “understand the issues”
- “Vitriolic”
- “Unqualified in each and every way”
- “Offended just about every classification of person in one way or the other”
- “Doesn’t know what he’s talking about”
“If House Republican John Katko was really cut from the same moderate, independent cloth as Richard Hanna, he would have stood up and disavowed Trump strongly and decisively,” said Bryan Lesswing of the DCCC. “But instead, Katko continues to leave the door open to supporting Trump and is trying to pull the wool over voters’ eyes. Katko has failed the test of political courage and leadership against Trump.”
