House Republicans Remind Everyone That They are Determined to Bail Out the Ultra Rich and Hurt Middle Class Families

House Republicans hold a Ways and Means committee hearing to make a case for extending their massive handout to the ultra wealthy

Yesterday, House Republicans on the Ways and Means Committee once again worked to pacify Donald Trump’s demand to bail out the ultra rich at the expense of working families.

Vulnerable House Republicans remain determined to put politics over people and extend the GOP Tax Scam of 2017. By all objective measures, the scam was an unmitigated disaster for working families, who saw no change in earnings, while top executive salaries increased sharply.

If the GOP Tax Scam was extended or made permanent, it would disproportionately benefit the top 5% of income earners.

REMINDER: 13 vulnerable House Republicans have already endorsed the GOP Tax Scam 2.0 as a part of the recent Republican Study Committee budget:

  • Rep. David Schweikert (AZ-01)

  • Rep. Juan Ciscomani (AZ-06)

  • Rep. Kevin Kiley (CA-03)

  • Rep. Mike Garcia (CA-27)

  • Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (FL-13)

  • Rep. Zach Nunn (IA-03)

  • Rep. John James (MI-10)

  • Rep. Ryan Zinke (MT-01)

  • Rep. Don Bacon (NE-02)

  • Rep. Nick LaLota (NY-01)

  • Rep. Brandon Williams (NY-22)

  • Rep. Monica De La Cruz (TX-15)

  • Rep. Bryan Steil (WI-01)

DCCC Spokesperson Viet Shelton:
“House Republicans are selling out working families to please Donald Trump and his ultra wealthy donors. American families want Congress to prioritize lowering costs for the middle class, making the wealthy pay their fair share and building up an economy that works for all Americans – not a government giveaway to the well-off and well-connected.”

In 2017, Vulnerable Reps. David Schweikert, Don Bacon, Brian Fitzpatrick, David Valadao, and Ken Calvert all voted for Trump’s Tax Scam.
