Knight’s Immigration Record Just as Extreme as Trump’s

Like Trump, Knight Can’t Run From His Record

Donald Trump’s anti-immigrant platform has been crystal clear from day one, and no pit stop in Mexico will change that. Like Trump, vulnerable Congressman Steve Knight has a hateful, anti-immigrant record he can’t run from.

Like Trump, Knight said the border was a “number one issue” because people were crossing to “hurt our way of life.”

Mirroring Trump’s heartless deportation plans, Knight said, “I have no problem telling a family, ‘Your child can stay […] But you’re going to have to go,” in reference to deporting parents whose children are citizens.

And, just like Trump, Knight has insulted immigrants by saying English language classes are “creating a huge burden on the state,” calling driver’s licenses “handouts,” and even suggesting Democrats just want to provide a pathway to citizenship so they will vote for Democrats (instead of, say, making a better life for themselves and their children).

Earlier this year Knight even voted against letting DREAMers serve in the military – which one local veteran took very personally.

“Vulnerable Congressman Steve Knight’s hateful, pejorative, anti-immigrant record is just as bad as Donald Trump’s,” said Barb Solish of the DCCC. “There’s no question Knight would be a rubber stamp for Trump’s extreme immigration policies.”

Knight also supported Arizona’s anti-immigration bill and said, “I don’t think it’s too harsh or extreme,” endorsed tearing apart hardworking immigrant families by sending an amicus brief on behalf of the House of Representatives to the Supreme Court against President Obama’s immigration actions, and voted against the California DREAM Act.
