Republicans just woke up to a harsh reality: Donald Trump is going to be the Republican Party’s nominee. There’s little doubt that the Republican Party is falling apart, and with it, Congressman Young’s reelection chances.

As Young twists himself into a pretzel trying to win reelection with Trump on the ballot, remember that Young stated that Trump is saying things “we’re not hearing but we’re thinking.” If Young is really thinking the things Trump is saying about nuclear proliferation, Putin, women, minorities, and people with disabilities, then he is woefully out-of-touch with hardworking Iowans.

When asked about Trump’s controversial rhetoric and whether or not he will support him, Young displayed a shocking lack of courage: “I’ll let Donald Trump say what Donald Trump says…” Further, he said that Trump is “making the other candidates raise their game…

His supportive comments and repeated refusal to denounce Trump’s vile rhetoric makes it clear he is ready to support Trump now that he is the nominee.

“After failing to disavow Donald Trump’s disturbing attacks on war heroes, women, minorities, and the disabled, Congressman Young will have to face the consequences of sharing a ballot with Trump,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law. “No matter how desperately Young tries to spin his indefensible support of Trump, it’s too little too late for him to run away from the top-of-ticket.”
