Re:        Pre-election Day Outlook – New Hampshire’s 1st  Congressional District

Headed into election day, Rep. Carol Shea-Porter has a clear advantage over former Tea Party Congressman Frank Guinta, who voters already rejected in the last election. The Tea Party hasn’t changed since 2012 and neither has Frank Guinta. Guinta is still the same radical rubber stamp for the far right wing agenda that voters ousted in 2012. Carol Shea-Porter is well-positioned to win.

I. Carol Shea-Porter is fighting for New Hampshire families and businesses.

During her time in office Rep. Shea-Porter has developed a proven track record of getting results. Voters know what to expect from Rep. Shea-Porter and they know she will stand up for them.

  • Shea-Porter has proven to her constituents that she is a tireless advocate for New Hampshire families and has a proven record of getting results for her constituents. She fights every day to help grow middle class and provide incentives for business to grow and hire new workers.
  • Granite Staters know that no matter what, Rep. Shea Porter -stands up for what she believes in and fights for our veterans by working to increase the availability of job training and apprenticeship programs for veterans and make sure they have access to quality in-state healthcare.

II.  Still the Same Tea Party Frank Guinta

The Tea Party’s out-of-touch agenda hasn’t changed since 2012 and neither has Frank Guinta. Guinta’s radical ideological agenda is out of step with New Hampshire voters and hasn’t changed since they ousted him in the last election.

  • Guinta is still the same Tea Party Congressman who helped write the Republican budget that would shift the tax burden onto the middle class and seniors, but cut taxes for the wealthiest Americans and big oil companies.
  • Guinta is 100 percent opposed to a woman’s right to choose, even in the case of rape or incest, or to save the life of the mother. He voted to defund Planned Parenthood and to restrict access to preventive health care for New Hampshire women.

III. Financial Advantage

Shea-Porter has maintained a sizeable financial advantage over Guinta for the entire campaign. At the end of the Q3 fundraising period, Shea-Porter raised $1.4 million for her re-election efforts, more than half a million dollars more than Guinta, who only raised $843,000 in total. Not only has Guinta’s fundraising consistently lagged behind Shea-Porter’s, but Guinta was also forced to completely empty his campaign coffers just eight weeks before the general election in order to win his contentious primary.

IV. Ground Game

Shea-Porter’s campaign has been part of an unprecedented field operation on the ground that has put the campaign in a strong position to turn voters out to re-elect her on November 4th. So far Shea-Porter’s volunteers and grassroots supporters have made 185,000 phone calls and knocked more than 90,000 doors throughout the district.

Shea-Porter well-positioned to win

With the election less than a week away, Rep. Shea-Porter is in a strong position to win. The contrast between her middle class-focused campaign and Frank Guinta’s latest Tea Party crusade could not be clearer. During this campaign, New Hampshire voters have learned that Guinta is still running on same Tea Party agenda he was when voters ousted him in 2012. By every metric – field, fundraising, and message – Rep. Shea-Porter is in a strong position to win on election day.
