New DCCC Poll: Myers and Tenney Already in Dead Heat

Tenney failing to consolidate Republican voters

A new DCCC-commissioned poll shows entrepreneur and community leader Kim Myers already in a dead heat with no-show Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney.

Myers and Tenney each take 35% of the vote, and third-party candidate Martin Babinec claims 21%. The race is already tied despite Tenney’s significant name recognition over Myers (69% name ID compared to 35% for Myers).

Even with Babinec left out, the vote is still tied between Myers and Tenney at 41%.

The poll also finds that Tenney is struggling to consolidate Republicans that she’ll need to win. Kim Myers carries 75% of the vote among self-described Democrats, while Tenney only has support from 57% of Republicans.

This poses a serious problem for Tenney, who appears to be competing for Republicans’ votes with conservative third-party candidate Martin Babinec.

Babinec showed his true Republican colors earlier this month when he reportedly told reporters that if he wins, “he’ll caucus with House Republicans.”

“Less than 70 days out from election day, entrepreneur and community leader Kim Myers is already in a dead heat with no-show Assemblywoman Claudia Tenney,” said Bryan Lesswing at the DCCC. “There is no question that conservatives Claudia Tenney and Martin Babinec are now battling, effectively splitting the Republican vote.”
