In New TV Ad, Congressman Southerland Touts Support For “Pay Working Families Less Act”

In his latest misleading television ad, Congressman Steve Southerland is actually touting his support for HB 1406 – which ABC Tallahassee called the “Pay Working Families Less Act.”

“Here’s how out-of-touch Congressman Steve Southerland’s Washington Way is with North Florida: he’s touting a bill that his own local news labeled the ‘Pay Working Families Less Act,’” said David Bergstein of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “Whether Congressman Southerland is shutting down the government or bragging about his vote to take money out of the pockets of working families, Congressman Southerland keeps proving that he’s the face of everything North Floridians hate about the dysfunctional, partisan politics of Washington.”

WTXL: “Congressman Steve Southerland is backing a bill that would cut workers’ pay with no guarantee of paid vacation days when employees need to use them. The Pay Working Families Less Act proposed by House Majority Leader Eric Cantor would allow employers to pay their workers nothing extra for overtime work other than comp time that can only be used at the employer’s discretion.”  [WTXL, 5/09/13; HR 1406, Vote #137, 5/08/13]‎
