Marco Rubio’s humiliating and robotic repetition of talking points likely reminds Coloradans of a 2012 episode where Coffman panicked and repeated (over and over and over and over and over again) his canned response rather than answer for his vile attacks on President Obama.
“Coloradans likely see the Rubio as robot narrative as a reminder of Congressman Coffman’s own humiliating inability to diverge from talking points or appear in public, unscripted venues,” said DCCC Spokesman Tyler Law.

Alas, the similarities between Rubio and Coffman are not limited to their inability to diverge from tired talking points or their extreme anti-choice positions. Another telling similarity is that they both hide behind carefully scripted and protected environments (see “boy in the bubble” and “where’s Mike Coffman?”). After Coffman so thoroughly embarrassed himself in 2012, his willingness to hold public town halls disappeared. There’s reason to believe Rubio will react to his face-plant in the exact same way.
