Last night, instead of trying to find a way to avert a government shutdown that will hurt countless Montanans, Ryan Zinke voted for legislation that would restrict access to the safe, legal abortion medication mifepristone – one of the most common methods for an abortion.
Zinke has repeatedly tried to chip away at Montanans’ reproductive freedom. This Congress, he co-sponsored legislation that would ban federally-funded health insurance coverage for abortions, including plans sold on the health care exchange. He also voted for legislation that would punish doctors for providing abortion care and voted to block consideration of a bill to codify Roe v. Wade.
REMINDER: Recently, the chair of the GOP Conference reiterated the Republican plot to enact a nationwide abortion ban – asserting Republicans “will get [it] done.”
