Two years ago, Mariannette Miller-Meeks applauded the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade and take away a woman’s right to have an abortion.
Thanks to this ruling, Iowa passed one of the most restrictive abortion bans in the country that would ban abortion before many women know they’re pregnant. Miller-Meeks laid the groundwork by voting to eliminate the right to an abortion while in the state legislature. With the Iowa Supreme Court expected to rule on the ban this week, Iowa women could be days away from having their rights ripped away because of anti-abortion politicians like Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
Now, Miller-Meeks, who co-sponsored a national abortion ban with no exceptions for rape, incest, or the woman’s life, is making it her mission in Washington to ban abortion nationwide – from trying to block reproductive health care access for members of the armed services, to targeting doctors who perform abortions, to electing a Speaker who wants to “get the number of abortions to ZERO.”
