While Republicans Attack Reproductive Care, Overwhelming Majority of Latinos Support Protecting Access To Birth Control

A new Navigator Research poll found that an overwhelming majority of Latino voters (81 percent) support legislation that protects various forms of birth control.

This is in stark contrast to efforts by MAGA House Republicans to limit people’s freedoms.

In the 118th Congress alone, House Republicans have passed numerous pieces of legislation that restrict access to reproductive care, including:

  • H.R. 26 – Targeting doctors who perform abortions

  • H.R. 6914 – Targeting college students’ right to access essential health care

  • H.R. 6918 – Allowing federal funds to spread medical misinformation and discourage abortions for women seeking essential health care services

  • H.Amdt.222 to H.R. 2670 – Blocking reproductive health care access for members of the armed services

In addition, the Republican Study Committee – of which more than 80 percent of the Republican caucus is a member– has supported the Life At Conception Act, which would threaten some forms of birth control, like IUDs.

DCCC Spokesperson José Muñoz:
“Instead of working to make people’s lives better, House Republicans have used their slim majority to pass extreme legislation that restricts access to birth control and abortion care. It is clear that Latino voters overwhelmingly oppose efforts by MAGA Republicans to limit their freedom to make decisions about their lives. House Democrats will make this distinction clear come November.”
