🎙️LISTEN: Mike Carey Admits “Real Americans Could Be Hurt” By His Failure To Extend ACA Tax Credits

Carey has not signed on to a single bill or discharge petition to extend the ACA tax credits

After sitting on his hands while the ACA tax credits expire and Ohio families’ health care costs nearly triple, Mike Carey finally admitted during a recent appearance on Columbus’ Morning News that “real Americans could be hurt” by his choice to ignore every single opportunity to extend these tax credits and keep Ohioans’ premiums affordable.

Carey said in his words: “As we go into this next year, I think we have to look at the ACA. We have to have a really strong discussion because if we do nothing and if something were to happen and we and the other side plays politics, real Americans could be hurt. And I, nobody wants to see that, least of all me.”

In OH-15, a couple could see their premiums jump from $602 a month to $2,359 a month — a 292% monthly increase for the same plan, all because Carey refuses to act.

Now, thanks to Carey and his refusal to sign onto any proposals that would force the House to vote on extending the credits, 32,000 of his own constituents are set to see their health care costs skyrocket when these tax credits expire.

DCCC Spokesperson Riya Vashi:
“Mike Carey’s record is crystal clear: when given the chance to protect affordable health care, he chose partisan games over people’s lives. Now, his failure to act is driving up costs and threatening coverage for millions of families. Ohio voters know Carey could care less about protecting ‘real Americans,’ and it’s why they’re ready to show him the door next year.”
